FS2004, Moorea Airport, Temae, French Polynesia, NTTM
By: Bill Melichar

Description:

This version completely redoes the previous with a more accurate representation of the entire airport. It contains four distinct areas including the main terminal, a fictional sea plane pier and shelter, rudimentary hangars, and some Polynesian huts along with a pier and sail boats in the bay just down from the airport. This Island is the closest to Tahiti, and you can even see the Tahiti airport from it. The other outer Society Islands will be coming soon. It is suggested that you also download the file Fpsimesh.zip, which has been made for FS2004, and provides a very nice alternative to the boring terrain which FS has put in this most beautiful area of the world.

Installation:

1. Extract the zip into your main FS2004 Addon Scenery folder, or into a temporary folder, and then move it there, which ever method you prefer.

2. Start up FS2004 and when the welcome screen, or initial menu comes on, select settings, then click on Scenery Library, and Add Area. Find the Addon Scenery folder and open it, then find the Moorea2 folder and click on it. The name Moorea2 should now appear in the title window, then click OK. Then you will see Moorea2 at the top of your scenery library list, and click the OK tab at the bottom.

3. That's it! You must first exit FS2004, and when you restart it your scenery will be there. It is not necessary to use the Addon Scenery option to locate this scenery, simply go to the airport in FS.

First and formost I must thank John de Lagristin for all of the great work he has done for the FS community, and especially scenery designers. He has seemed to have dropped out from our hobby, but his contributions will live on for a long time to come. In this scenery alone, which is a small one, it contains his auto parks, and several of the textures used to create the terminal, plus the other buildings, along with textures for all of the trees. I have no idea where he has found so many textures, but I have found them indispesible in creating my scenery.

Tom Burnett: For his airline vans, which in this scenery I chose to use the plain Chevy Van.

H. Enos: For the small airport fuel tanks, which I used in the hangar/ tower area.

Gabriel Concha: For the pushback tug, not required too much in this small airport except for the occassional larger jet which visits here.

John Vrbanac: For his helipad textures which I had to recreate here due to flashing textures.

Finally, I'm not sure who did the great Rav2 vehicle used out by the sea plane dock, but the four vehicles I have that he has done are all exquisite!

Contact and Legal:

This scenery is freeware, and may not be used in whole or part for profit. It may not be duplicated or altered in any form from the original except by the author. Since the upload proceedure is very time consuming, I can only upload to a few sites. If you wish to upload this scenery to your site, feel free as long as the site is flight sim related, and there is no charge for using the site or the scenery, including membership dues in order to download the files at will. In other words, if your site is not accessible to all who wish to download freeware without paying membership fees, this scenery should not be available. This after all is the concept of FREEWARE! I create this stuff basically for myself, and my enjoyment of FS, and choose to share it with the FS community as freeware, and I repeat FREE-WARE! I do not like receiving e-mails telling me that people could not download my scenery because a site had all nodes busy, because they were not members. This destroys the concept of freeware, and also those who contribute their creations freely for all to enjoy. Finally I would like to say to these membership sites, (many whom I have stopped uploading to), let your sponsors pay the bills, or follow the example of sites which do not have memberships. We are entering a very delicate area here, where freeware designers are now contributing their creations free of charge, and the sites are profiting from them without re-imbursement to those who are making them the profit. It seems to me the concept of freeware has just kind of flown out the window. I have noticed a definite trend from site A who is now charging membership fees, to site B who still remains completely free. People are switching to site B, and my downloads have increased dramatically there, far exceeding those of site A, who used to be the leader. Does this tell us anything? I would say at least 90% or more of those of us who use FS go to the sites for the downloads to enhance our gaming experience, and manipulate the game to our desires. If we have to pay for the freeware files in order to get them, they are no longer freeware! I get no compensation from the sites whether my files have 1000 downloads, or 10,000, and I don't expect it, but I do expect all of my freeware files to be just that, FREE. In conclusion, making a profit off of freeware files whether directly or indirectly is not right, and not making these files available to all who want them without having to pay is a direct attack upon the word freeware. I would just like to reiterate that those sites which are indirectly charging for the work of those who have given freely to support our hobby, are walking on very thin ice. OK, I'm off my soap box.

Feel free to contact me for whatever reason. I have a new scenery design screen name which is exclusively for questions, compliments, problems, or anything related to my scenery. If you use the name of the scenery in your subject, or the word scenery, it will make it easier for me not to delete your E-mail.
